Melbourne Industrial Photography…With Horses…!

The following images are from a recent series that I have been working on for a fantastic client called Tyrecycle. As their name suggests, they turn old discarded tyres into a range of different products, essentially new beginnings for old tyres!

Once the tyres have been processed the end result is a rubber crumb that has a variety of uses, however I have been specifically involved in documenting the product being used for sporting surfaces. In this series the rubber crumb has been added to a sand mix for an equestrian arena. Naturally while photographing the surface, I ensured that I added some drama and identity to the images with the horse and rider.

My thanks indeed to Kristy and William, and to Tyrecycle who have built a brilliant business out of a product that is all too often dumped into the environment. I never considered until recently as to how even a small number of discarded tyres provides a perfect breeding ground for disease carrying mosquitoes, combined of course with the hazard the tyres cause when ignited during the bush fire season…
