I am an Architectural, Commercial and Industrial Photographer based in Melbourne, Australia, although after perusing this blog you could perhaps be forgiven for thinking that I mainly work as a travel photographer. In fact while I do post some occasional commercial projects here, I do have a professional portfolio website which can be found at www.michaelevansphotographer.com
This blog is a place for me to document not only a selection of my professional projects, but also my personal photography adventures. I have never been particularly good at keeping a diary, but really enjoy the whole process of updating this blog and the warmth and friendship I have experienced from other bloggers the world over…
My journey started during the design boom of the late 80’s and early 90’s, when I had the good fortune to be working for commercial & retail design giant Fitch and Company in Soho, London’s exciting west end. The diverse range of projects that the company was appointed to meant that in any one week I could be photographing the latest construction at Heathrow T4, a new office building, a shopping centre or single retail outlet, or even a new telephone prototype…
I fondly remember the purchase of my first 4×5 in view camera during this period, whereupon I set about discovering the intricacies of photographing architecture and interiors. In the mid 1990’s I photographed for several Time Life books on the Middle East, and then following a series of hotel shoots in Switzerland and France for the English ski company Powder Byrne, I found myself bound for a new life in Australia, which I have called home for the past 19 years.
Fully embracing a digital workflow, my adventure as a photographer continues…
