The (lack of) view from Mount Wellington…

Although we were only in Hobart for a couple of days, we still decided to take out a small mortgage and hire a car to give us that added flexibility with our sight seeing. After the Salamanca market, we decided to take the drive up to the top of Mount Wellington for the view from the lookout over the city. The Mount rises to 1,271 metres above the city, upon whose foothills much of Hobart is built.

Although it was December and supposedly summertime, the weather was decidedly rainy and overcast as we set out on the road to the top. The clouds really began rolling in to cover the summit as we approached the car park area with the lookout building. Unfortunately it was obvious that I was not going to be taking any views of the city below, but I still had my camera with me and so could not resist taking some ‘lost in the fog’ shots..! Clearly this was going to be a day for some dramatic black and white shots…
