Amboise…once home of the French Royal Court…

The Chateau d’Amboise obviously stands high above the town, and I was certainly looking forward to shooting it nicely illuminated in a dusk shot. However alas it was not to be…still, I did not come away completely empty handed as I had my tripod with me, and was at least able to shoot a variety of  exposures and then blend them in Photoshop to produce the first image below…

According to our hosts at our guesthouse, Mick Jagger also has a Chateau nearby…

Unfortunately our visit was too early in the season, as once again the Chateau is only illuminated at night over the summer season. © Michael Evans Photographer 2013

Most tourists realise that the town is famous for the Clos De Luce manor house, where Leonardo de Vinci spent his last years at the invitation of King Francis I. Although it was miserable weather we naturally set off tup the hill to see the museum at Leonardo’s final home; however when we arrived we found that every school group in France also had the same idea…coupled with the high entrance fee, we decided we would cut straight to the Chateau instead, which turned out to be relatively quiet.
