We stayed at the Auberge de la Baie hotel just outside of Mont St Michel, and I have to say that this place certainly offered the best views of this iconic destination. Although the accommodation was very reasonably priced, and hence our expectations were not (unfairly) high, it was actually excellent! Just across from the hotel is a field for the Pre-Sale lamb, which is essentially lamb that has fed upon the salt meadow grass around the Mont. I asked the farmer if he would mind me wandering a little way in to get closer, and he was most obliging. I still needed my 70-200 2.8 L IS for this first frame, along with the RRS tripod. Incidentally the restaurant at the Auberge de la Baie served the lamb as a delicacy, and it was just superb (and not overly salty – just really tasty!)

Inside the city…

Since the next day was fairly miserable weather wise, and the Mont had a fair amount of reconstructive scaffolding, my photography options were fairly limited. So glad I grabbed the dusk shot the night before…
