After Cheverny, we drove on in the direction of Tours-en-Solange, stopping on the way at the beautiful Chateau de Chaumont. Upon our arrival, it started to rain and naturally my spirits and thoughts of getting the shots I was after sank… However, luck was definitely on our side as within 30 minutes the weather changed again and I was able to shoot these images…
Why include 4 of the front…well, it was such a perfect Chateau, why not..? It is easy to see why this was the inspiration for Walt Disney’s castle…

The inspiration for Disney’s castle was Neuschwanstein. But Chateau de Chaumont is also beautiful.
It certainly is beautiful Victor! Apparently Herbert Dickens Ryman, who was a close friend of Disney’s and chief designer of the Cinderella castle drew inspiration from many different castles, but with major emphasis on a select eight. These were as you say Neuschwanstein, and also Chenonceau, Chateau de Pierrefonds, Chambord, Alcazar of Segovia in Spain, Moszna Castle in Poland, and Fontainebleau. Oh, and Chaumont of course… The aim is to visit all of these beautiful castles, but I might need to win the lottery first! All the best, Michael
